Guard Mount Fall of 1953

Guard Duty was extensive during the academic year on weekends. It was a rostered plebe duty. Every barracks area had formal guards that were posted. Guard Mount was a formal inspection ceremony on Saturday afternoon following parades or reviews. Part of Plebe Knowledge was to know the guard’s General Orders. Uniform was as for the parade. Cadet OD and SOGs were in charge.

I’m not sure when formal guard duty was eliminated, but eventually it was. The Formation is in Central Area against the West Academic Building. The open view is to the North across the Plain – up the Hudson
